6 month old not babbling

Does anyone else have a baby that doesn't babble? My 6month old will laugh, scream, cry and growl bit will not babble. She's only ever occasionally made "babble" sounds. She's generally very quiet and all you'll hear are raspberries or fake coughing, never any "baby talk". Is this normal?

My toddler didn’t “babble” as such until he was 11 months (so a little later than the “usual”) and now at 2.5 years has lots of words and sentences. I think 6 months is quite young for the repetitive babbling OP, I think that can happen nearer to 9 months. Your baby sounds like she is making normal sounds for her age to me

Don't worry OP, my baby was very "quiet" until about 12m and now at 18m does not stop babbling nonsense mixed with random words! As the PP said, they're still young so please don't stress.

My 2 yo never really babbled as a baby. He's currently reciting one of his books and I think has yet to take a breath this morning!

Really no need to worry just now.

I'd say 6 months is young to be worrying, I didn't notice the mamama dadada kind of babbling till at least 10 months or even closer to 1 year with both mine. I remember the HV asking at the 1 year review so that must be when it's expected by.

I am so thankful for this post, FTM here! Im so worried about my 8 month old he can say bwa, ah and gu but does not repeat them. He has started to hum a repetitive “da da” sound but wont say it with his mouth open yet. I often wonder if this is normal? Im hoping as the next couple months go on he progresses.

Only 1 of mine (4, but one too young for babbling yet) did at this age. She is generally the most talkative and was early with most communication milestones. My boys didn't babble till 10 months but did have a couple of proper words by a year, so totally within normal range.

Although some babble at 6 months, it's earlier than average, so certainly not a cause for concern.

My darling GD is 15 months and only says mama and sometimes papa! Should we be or tied?

No babbling from DS1, who seemed to flick a switch one day at 14 months and suddenly had a massive vocabulary. DS2 is following a more normal pattern for language development, and wasn't babbling at 6 months but was around 12.
