Drop in appetite - when to worry?

Hi all, just after some advice / to see if I'm overacting to my 5 year olds sudden dramatic reduction in food intake. He's always been such a good eater but over the past couple of weeks he's eaten like a small sparrow. DH thinks I'm being dramatic and it's just a phase / due to him being a bit off (nothing major just the standard colds / coughs that are everywhere) So I'm just wondering when do you start to worry?

For example today he's eaten half his breakfast (which was weetabix, he used to eat two without fail but I've started giving him one instead due to just wasting it every day, so half a weetabix today) half an innocent smoothie. Tried to tempt him with pancakes and strawberries mid morning, just ate the strawberries. Had cherry tomatoes, a potato cake and about a 1p size bit of bacon for lunch. About to have Xmas dinner but I don't hold out any hope.

The above is very typical of his diet at the moment. I need to speak to school when he's back in as I don't know how much he's eating there. Am I right to worry or is DH right I'm being dramatic?

I'm not saying you have no reason to worry because I'm not qualified but my son (now 8) has often gone through phases of being less interested in food like this, as he has with being more and less picky at different times and it doesn't seem to have been linked to any problems I'm aware of.

Thanks for your reply - I appreciate it. I do get anxiety when it comes to health stuff, where as DH is the total opposite & is so relaxed so sometimes it's good to hear other opinions.

I feel a bit better after he's eaten about 5 small roast potatoes, a bit of turkey and some carrot.

He's just a little thing as it is, and now his 4-5 pants are getting loose :( I did try to talk to him earlier and he said he's not eating much as he "doesn't want to get fat" - I need to try understand where this has come from and work out how to deal with it.
