Three year old growing distant

We have a 3 week old and an almost 4 year old. I knew when we brought baby home our eldest would grow closer to his dad but he just told me that he wants his nanny and his dad to look after him tonight and I can go to his nanny’s house.

It hurt.

Is this normal?

Yes. The HV told me it’s a bit like your OH turning up at the house with a mistress and you’re meant to be ok. I went through this with my eldest. She was horrified by this interloper I had brought home!
Try not to take it to heart and if possibly have some alone time with them doing something cool babies can’t do.
