Help me stop feeling guilty

Baby was down for a nap earlier, I had a quick nap while DH went out for 45 minutes. I somehow slept through the crying on the baby monitor, when DH came back baby was crying and I was still asleep. No idea how long she was crying for, her eyes were red and she was upset. Shocked I didn't wake up as I always do during the night but must have been exhausted. So worried I've damaged baby by letting her cry for potentially a long time ( read about elevated cortisol levels etc) help me not feel so guilty

Do not worry about it for a second longer.

Cortisol levels would have to be chronically elevated, as in being left to cry all the time, to make any difference at all.

Good you got some sleep at least!

Thanks, I'm still surprised I didn't wake up with the monitor right beside me, we've had a few terrible nights with baby teething so I must have been wrecked!

It probably wasn't even that long. Babies can go to 0 to 100 so quickly!

You can absolutely let this one go! You sound like a lovely, attentive mother.
