8 week old sleep

My 8 week old baby won't sleep in his next to me at all. He will go down in it, drift off to sleep and then jolts himself awake 5-10 minutes later and this repeats all night. He seems quite happy in there but just can't get himself back to sleep once awake so needs shushing etc. Is there anything I can do to help him stay asleep? At the minute I'm giving up a few hours in and letting him sleep on me

Are you swaddling him at all?

Tried swaddling, tried blankets, tried the 2.5 tog babygrows and sleeping bags. He hates being swaddled so thought the babygrows would work but doesn't seem to have helped.

Our little one didn't like her next to me until about 9/10 weeks, so before that we had her in a Moses basket that we just kept in the next to me.

I think she didn't like the next to me before then because she felt a bit lost there in the middle.

She now absolutely loves it though so maybe park it, try something like a Moses basket on top of the next to me mattress and then revisit it in a few weeks?

We tried a moses basket initially and he screamed when he couldn't see us. Now he just wakes up constantly but will drift back off when shushed and knows we're there. Hopefully he'll settle in a few weeks

OP how did you get on? My little one hates both the next to me and the Moses basket! He’s been sleeping with me in my bed as he won’t settle for more than an hour!
