My partners mother is pushing out my son

Hello .
my partners mother ( my sons grandmother ) has 2 grandchildren both around the same age and both boys . My son has seen his grandmother a total of 8-10 times . He is 2 . However her other grandchild she sees him weekly . This is due to her babysitting him every week and having him overnight . However if we do ring her we will simply for hear from her at all . we have to always ring her or message her to even have contact with her . A few months ago my son was admitted to hospital with bronchitis while he was in hospital we hadn’t had a message or a phone call or check on him . When we was discharged we still heard nothing from her , she is around 44 so she is still young . Everytime we speak to her she has excuses for why she hasn’t bothered for example she is ill , or tired however she never fails to baby sit her other grandchild . Where this is my partners mother I feel I have no say and I am worried it will rattle some feathers between us ! Any advice on what I should do about this ?

I think you just have to accept that your partner’s mum is more interested in supporting his sister (I’m guessing) than she is in helping him/you with childcare etc.

There’s nothing much you can do about her disinterest in your son. She is the one missing out on a relationship with your lovely wee boy. Remember that: it is her loss.

What 'you' should do? Absolutely nothing. This is all up to her son to sort, or not.

I thing you can do, you can’t make someone interested in your children.

Wait til she competitively parents the other boy to yours all ‘did you know X is walking and yours is still crawling’ ….

You are better off out of it.
