Knickers/pants to bed??? Help with Flamechick

I have always been a no underwear to bed kind of girl - let it all breathe iyswim.

I know lots of friends and their children wear underwear to bed.

Now... DD has been dry in pull ups for about a week now, I want to try without them but she is freaking out a bit (mild AS, change is not liked!!). Would putting knickers on her help calm the situation do you think?

She gets sore girly bits, partly due to being 4 and not wiping well (she is washed every day, but still..), and I think partly due to constantly having them covered up. I want her out of the pull ups if she is not wetting them, to try and help with the soreness, but I want her calm too. Knickers won't make it any worse will it? Just possibly not make it better?

I am a bit in the dark here and want someone to just give me a kick

Dd always used to get sore around her vulva, and was constantly getting urine infections. We haven't had a single one in the few months she's been dry at night so I think you're right to want her out of her pull-ups at night.

Have you asked her whether she would prefer knickers? If it would make it easier for her to make the transition then try it - it can't hurt.

As long as her knickers are cotton then it shouldn't make it any worse. She'll be wearing pjyamas over them, I presume, so it's just another layer of cotton.

How about phasing in gradually - so pullups OVER knickers?

Flamesparrow · 15/03/2008 19:09

She was adamant that she wanted pull ups, even suggested the pull ups over knickers and she was having none of it...

Then we got to bedtime and she put on her new knickers and didn't mention pull ups I will never understand that child!!!

Now just praying that she is dry tonight, because if she suddenly wets it will shatter her confidence completely

Well I have used organic cotton pants for mine (very sensitive skin). They were from green baby and they're gorgeously soft - much nicer then regular ones which is probably mostly because they're a better quality cotton rather than just the organic. He seems to prefer them to just pjs although I will be working towards "airflow" as well"
