Toddler scared of dogs, what can help

Has anyone had a toddler terrified of dogs?

I was scared of dogs growing up, not anymore so I know how he feels - he’s only 2.5!

however at Christmas we have family coming to see us and they are bringing their dog. I feel really guilty bringing a dog into my sons home but also cannot ask them to leave the dog either as they live far away.

any tips which helps a toddlers fear at all? X

They need to leave the dog. Kennels if they can.
Longer term there are things you can do. Starting with reading stories and having a cuddly toy. But it takes time. And has to be done slowly.
