Sleep consultants/training

Have any of you used a sleep consultant or done sleep training with real success? Am feeling pretty desperate and have considered hiring someone for help but reviews have been so mixed, just don't know what to do. I would be really grateful for any recommendations or advice! Thank you.

Hi @calorcalorcalor , I did, when my ds was 18 months. Is there anything in particular you’d like to know? It was life changing for me and still is.

It's so hard when you're getting no sleep op.

Ive never sleep trained so I'm not sure I'm much help on that front. How old is your little one and do you have much support around you and are you still on maternity? Ds woke every 2 hrs until 6 months old then it was 3 times a night until 9 months. He'll still wake up during the night now at a year. I try to follow along with when their developmental leaps are (I found it helped me mentally knowing the cause and that it was hopefully going to be a week or so when it was extra bad) and dh splits the night stuff with me especially at weekends. We also co sleep when it's really desperate and I found the happy Co sleeper on instagram was really useful for safe sleep positions etc and made me feel a bit more confident about that.

It's really tough, I'm back to work now and we've had a few nights where ds was ill and I was literally hallucinating from lack of sleep. I really feel for you but it doesn't last forever.

Thank you - I suppose who did you go to for help, what was the method like, how did it help?

Thanks so much - baby is 10 months and is waking every 20-40 minutes at night, sometimes sleeps for 2 hours on a good night! I'm going back to work after xmas and getting very anxious about working on no sleep!

What did you end up doing?

What did you end up doing?

Thanks for asking. I did hire a sleep consultant in the end, her advice helped us getting baby to sleep in his cot and sleeping for longer stretches for a few months. He then got worse again with illness/teething/growth spurt and then randomly started sleeping through the night completely independently! The lack of sleep was really making me ill, so life is feeling a little easier now.
