Asthma

My DD 9 who has asthma has been ill for about 3 weeks with a horrible virus and off school for most of that. We have seen the GP about 4 times, 2 calls to asthma uk, one visit to out of hours. Three courses of steroids, one course of antibiotics, a clear chest x ray and blood tests but she’s not getting better. She had a frightening bout of coughing this morning where she was gasping for breath. She’s just been sent home from A&E and they’ve said they can’t find anything and she just has to ride the virus out. I feel frightened and like no one is helping.

That's so scary isn't it? My 4 year old has asthma and has been struggling on and off for the last few months. It's horrible.

@Newuser75 has she been referred to the paediatrician? Asthma UK helpline is brilliant if you are worried. I hope you get it under control for her soon.

@Lovemybunnies he has seen the gp many times as well as an asthma specialist. It was settling down but seems to have flared up again. It's a worry for sure. Hope your daughter feels better soon!
