BABY UNSETTLED AFTER FEEDING

Hello

Just looking for some advice or recommendations on the below

our baby girl is now 1 month and 1 day old as of today 13/12/23..

the first 3/4 days of her life she was on colostrum and was very content and settled..

on day 4 ish she decided that after feeding she would completely kick off and scream for 1-2 hours before basically burning herself out and falling asleep, now here is where it becomes tricky for me, sometimes she will feed an absolute dream, burp a couple times during the feed and then fall back to sleep other times it’s like you are feeding her liquid lava she will take a few “sips” and then spit the bottle out and scream, then take some more, scream and go round in this vicious circle..

we have tried pretty much everything we can think of, all the anti colic bottles, infacol, dentonox, different test speeds, sitting upright, holding upright for 30 mins after feeds, currently on nutromigen milk from doc, tried feeding on demand, every 2 hour every 3 hours, white noise, swaddle, sleeping bags, safe sleep blankets, it seems like something is really upsetting her after feeding..

the nutromigen milk has certainly made her poo much more regular 2/3 times a day opposed to once every 2/3 days.

she is bottle fed but was express fed for 2.5 weeks we were advised it could be something in mums milk, then tried SMA & Aptamil, both pre made and powder..

some of her “symptoms” when these episodes happen are

makes herself stiff
screams with arched back
arms and legs moving back and forth
sometimes coughing
hiccups
occasional milk spit up/bubbles (1 out of 3 feeds)
occasional sick (1 every couple days) seems more like because she’s working herself up

we have also noticed she seems to have a white tongue quite often (not thrush 2 diff doc and heath vis conf)
appears to have blocked nose can kind of hear it when breathing sounds lightly crackly like it’s snotty in the back of her nose

im wondering whether it could potentially be some kind of reflux but then I am clutching at straws because it’s so frustrating and draining…

has anyone else had anything similar and have any advice

Thank you!!!

Does she make a clicking sound when feeding? Has she been assessed for tongue tie?

I mean, that is most certainly reflux. However reflux is a symptom of something else rather than a thing in itself: eg allergy, taking in air when feeding due to poor feeding technique or oral disfunction/tongue tie etc.

The gp is obviously already considering allergy as they have you on dairy free milk. They are probably waiting to see if the milk change has an impact before they try reflux medication. It's best to find the cause rather than just masking it with drugs etc

The white tongue will likely just be milk and probably unrelated to the other symptoms

i know this is super late but did you ever find out the reason behind this ? This litreally describes my 3 week old to a T. It's awful if she's not asleep or feeding she's screaming. She will scream having a bottle it takes so long. Haven't got in contact with gp yet though xx
