To wrap or not that is the question?

Daughter is just over 2 so getting into Christmas this year.

I always received wrapped gifts from Santa when I was young ( unless it was a bike or slide, something bigger). Husbands Santa gifts were always just left under the tree unwrapped.

Stockings we both never had anything wrapped.

I personally think she'll get too distracted by everything so opening one at a time is better, plus tearing off paper is fun for kids.

What do you do with yours? Either way it's about the magic, which I am loving!

Wrap everything!

cuckyplunt · 12/12/2023 12:39

Mine are 18 and 20, still wrap everything, they’d lynch me if I didn’t..

Soubriquet · 12/12/2023 12:39

2 year old? Wrap everything . They love tearing open the presents.

Are you asking about wrapping the presents under the tree? Or the stocking?

Of course wrap tree presents. But no, we don’t wrap stockings.

stargirl1701 · 12/12/2023 12:41

We use fabric wrapping.

howtheheck123 · 12/12/2023 12:42

@Mazuslongtoenail tree gifts only.

I wrap everything, takes them longer and is more fun

Michellebops · 12/12/2023 12:43

💯 wrap.
Part of the excitement is seeing their faces unwrap the gifts.

howtheheck123 · 12/12/2023 12:43

@stargirl1701 interesting I'll look into this in general. We do recycle but this sounds handy.

I don’t know about girls but boys that age love playing with big boxes

RaininSummer · 12/12/2023 12:44

Wrap. No fun otherwise.

howtheheck123 · 12/12/2023 12:44

@NightmareGirl Girls love giant boxes too, I'm actually about to break a big one up that she played in at weekend. I feel bad but it's taking up space!

🤣 my girl loves boxes more than my boy!

WeirdPookah · 12/12/2023 12:53

We always use brown paper prints wrapping for presents in stockings from Father Christmas. Makes a nice distinction of presents and a tradition to follow.

PuttingDownRoots · 12/12/2023 13:01

My 10yo girl still loves a box!

We did a mix depending on the gift. Something like a bike or barbie house would be built beforehand, so at mist would have a sheet over it.
Stuff that didn't need construction was wrapped.

Thanks all for commenting on what you do, it's pretty much unanimous, and what I'm used to, so wrapping it is!

Everything is wrapped except for the gold coins and satsuma in the stocking.

howtheheck123 · 16/12/2023 12:07

@BooksAndHooks Aah memories the satsuma are the bottom of the stocking. She'll definitely be getting one of those! ☺️

Of course you wrap them. Tearing the paper off is the best bit. Just buy recyclable (no shiny bits and matt).

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 16/12/2023 12:28

I've never heard of unwrapped presents before MN! Everything gets wrapped even stocking presents in this house .

LaundryWoes · 16/12/2023 12:31

We do stockings and Santa gift unwrapped (but with a bow/ribbon) and family presents wrapped, but our Santa only brings one gift and fills the stocking.

Mojolostforever · 16/12/2023 12:35

Wrap it all. She'll get as much pleasure from the wrapping paper as she does from the present.
