To any mothers that had a baby that cluster fed, how did you stop yourself from losing your shit?

All ideas welcome!

Preparation. Accept that you are not moving and have to hand: snacks, water, more snacks, the TV remote, something you actually want to watch on TV, if relevant someone to take out the other child(ren). Make sure you go to the toilet in advance.

Thank you. My little one is 15 days old and has been doing this the past 2 days now. Doesn't help I had a rip roaring infection and on abx!

I watch interesting things on Netflix on a comfy sofa with a blanket 😂 and make sure there is water I can reach.

If you’re worried about falling asleep sitting up then lye down and co-sleep safely whilst baby carries on feeding. Much better than accidentally nodding off sat up.

Lansinoh nipple cream can be a lifesaver too if you’re sore.

Lots of books, tv remote. Going for a wee before baby settles down.

My little one is 16 days old! 😁 but she’s my second so I’ve been here before.

if you’re on antibiotics then keep an eye out for trush in babies mouth or on your nipples

Accept that it’s normal, that cluster feeding shouldn’t be more than a few days at a time, realise you should be sitting cuddling your baby and resting anyway. Learn how to co sleep safely and feed lying down.
And what previous poster said.
plus a stretchy wrap sling for when you really do need to get up and make a meal and a drink.

Ha sounds good! I'm plotted up for the time being, eating my porridge one handed. Only downfall is, this morning is stuck on the tv so I'm wondering if it's that or the cluster feeding that's sending me over the edge today 😂

Selling Sunsets on Netflix. Watch other people lose their sh1t instead (in questionable outfits). 😂
The perfect pairing for cluster feeds, imo...

I mastered the side-lying hold, lay in bed and watched Netflix on the iPad over his head while he did it, then moved the iPad safely away and promptly fell asleep with my husband watching us for safety.

Is baby's father still in the picture and still on leave? Get someone to help you out by waking and doing all the nappy changes while you sleep and watching you while you sleep next to him.

PinkPlantCase · 12/12/2023 17:46

@ironorchids it’s perfectly fine to co-sleep workout anyone watching you! Especially if you’re breastfeeding. Just be sure to follow safe co-sleeping guidance.

Netflix and snacks. I watched 15 sessions of below deck and all its spin offs

mrssunshinexxx · 13/12/2023 07:32

Just succumbed to it I knew it wouldn't last long and quickly learnt to feed with one arm walking around so I could still get shit done or popped her in the sling to feed so I had both hands

Makkacakka · 13/12/2023 07:36

Netflix. I miss those days now I have a toddler (wouldn't go back though!)
