Drinking hot milk when cooled

Hi Mumsnetters
my toddler has some lukewarm milk before bed. It is never drunk completely and DC then keeps the cup with them, falls asleep and wakes the next morning and drinks it while still in cot when it is then cold. Is this dangerous- drinking previously warm milk cooled down the next morning ?
and is it really bad for DC’s teeth?
many thanks for help

The bacteria would've grown in it overnight, part

Doubleespresso33 · 12/12/2023 08:23

Not sure about the temperature but yes bad for their teeth xx

pinkfonie · 12/12/2023 08:23

Oops, particularly because it was once warm. You shouldn't really do this. Take the cup away and give them fresh cold milk from the fridge in the morning.

I'm not sure milk is that bad for teeth? Yeah it has some sugar in but it's hardly full fat coke?

Speak to a dentist @pinkfonie. Advice is to not let your DC have milk at night once you have brushed their teeth

Thanks so much all for fast responses. I didn’t realise it was happening and worried I was overreacting but obviously not ! Thank you !

Leave some water by his bed so he has something he can drink in the morning when he wakes.

100g of full fat milk has 4.8g of sugar and 100g of coke has 4.9g of sugar.

@Rosenoire is your toddler having the warm milk after brushing teeth?

pinkfonie · 12/12/2023 10:00

Forget the sugar in the milk, is it not more dodgy he's drinking milk that's been left out for what, 12 hours that was warmed up and a breeding place for bacteria, then cooled down, not in the fridge!?

thanks all - now changed routine to drinking milk -brushing teeth-then i find where DC has hidden sippy with the undrunk milk and replace sip with one with water. DC looked a bit bemused but no objections- thanks for help!
