So happy she is home

So sad for what she might have gone through

So annoyed with the comments about the families set up

Mother's partner just in the radio right now complaining that rich people (McCanns) can afford high profile help

I feeling the same, have the news on here and some of the comments don't need to be said.
As my as my kids are driving me mad I am glad they are with me.
Glad she has been found safe

BBC News say it was the biggest manhunt since the Yorkshire Ripper, using 10% of West Yorkshire Police's operational strength.

You can't buy that.

moodlumthehoodlum · 14/03/2008 17:29

Exactly, and with that kind of manpower behind it they perhaps didn't need the media coverage the mccanns did?

I don't doubt that he has been to hell and back in the last weeks, but I hate the way everything comes down to haves and have nots. He's got his step daughter back, what more is there to want?

Totally agree you can't buy manpower like that... as the McCanns were in Portugal, they were dealing with a (possibly) inept police force, hence their publicity campaign to find their daughter.
I havent heard Shannons stepfather on the radio, but pleeeeease don't tell me he is complaining....

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 14/03/2008 17:39

I think the report they played was before she was found.

Shannon's family have nothing to complain about. This was the biggest manhunt since the Yorkshire Ripper which resulted in the safe return of a little girl.

That's all that matters.

mumofdjandpandbump · 14/03/2008 17:41

havent seen news is she ok!

Hulababy · 14/03/2008 17:41

I wonder if the reason for lower media coverage was because the police did not want it, that they felt it would hamper their hunt for her.

dinny · 14/03/2008 17:41

you just wonder if Madeleine would have been found if it had happened in this country.

so please for Shannon's parents

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 14/03/2008 17:41

I don't think they are married so he is just the mother's partner and he is 22. what does he know?

It really annoyed me all the comments about how different it was/has been with the McCanns. I wasn't any more interested in Maddie because her parents were rich, and I wasn't any less interested in Shannon because her parents were poor, and if I'd have been in any position to help either of them, or any other child that had gone missing I wouldn't have thought "Oh, I'll not bother trying to help since they are poor", and I don't think there would be many people that disagreed with that.

Sorry, I know I have gone off on one, and it isn't all quite as simplistic as that, but it really bugged the hell out of me.

noddyholder · 14/03/2008 17:46

surely its not all you can think about?

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 14/03/2008 17:47

What I mean is it is on my mind quite a bit.

I was in tears this afternoon, it was so lovely that shes been found but sad at the same time. I just saw the cameras outside her house and was thinking, please just leave them alone this is going to be a very hard time for Shannon and her family, they dont need cameras outside.
but yes wonderful and sad at the same time.

It made me mad that it was compared to the McCanns! Every case is different! It did origanally look like the little girl had run away due to the fact she had told friends that she was going to and had family problems. It has nothing to do with her class or the way she looked. It was just the way the media had made it look was that she had ran away and it wasnt until recently public opinion changed as it was looking less likely that she had run off and then suddenly the blame was put on the media because of her class.
Its a completley different case to the McCanns.
But at the end of the day no matter how much money or media attention the McCanns have received they are without their little girl and shannon has been found safe and well (thank god!).

Shannons family need to hold onto that! the police have done a fantastic job. The McCanns must be really feeling it tonight!
