How to get daughter to stop eating with her mouth open

Honestly I can’t sit with her when she’s eating. She’s 5.5 years old and eats with her mouth fully open making loud chewing and smacking noises. It drives me INSANE. It’s going to hinder her social progress. I call her out but 10 seconds later she’s back at it.

I have the same problem with my 7 year old and it’s a huge trigger for me. I have to leave the room as no amount of reminding him stops it!

Can she breathe through her nose? If she struggles to breathe through her nose then she will be trying to breathe and eat through her mouth and struggle to eat with her mouth closed.

It’s going to hinder her social progress.

Just keep telling her. You can send her to finishing school if she is still doing it at 16. It is far too early to be worrying - her peer group are still eating bogies.

She may have problems with her sinuses and some people suffer from this life long (me), sometimes you can only manage the symptoms they dont disappear necessarily

So unless I want to choke I cant always eat with my mouth closed

She is old enough to eat with her mouth closed. Those noises are fucking disgusting.
