I have 3 kids, first two were a dream to potty train, no issues at all, didn’t have to do anything they basically just did it all themselves. My 3rd turned 4 last month, and we’ve been unsuccessfully trying to potty train him for months. He does have delayed speech and has been referred to SALT but he can communicate and understand enough for the sake of potty training. He has no interest in sitting on the potty or toilet, has no issues sitting in wet clothes, hates being naked, tried standing up and sitting down and even when we can coax him onto the potty the few successes we’ve had, he just sits there for so long a wee eventually comes out. We’ve tried sweets, stickers, a reward chart. On the few occasions he’s actually made it to the potty we try to praise him and make a big deal about it but he goes all shy and doesn’t really like the attention. I tell him what a big boy he is and he’ll just tell me ‘no, I’m a baby’. We try reminding him every 30minutes and most of the time he just tells us no, or he will try and nothing yet wet himself minutes after getting off the potty. I’m at my wits end with my entire house stinking of urine and the constant washing and outfit changes. I can’t take him out the house. I’m desperate to get him potty trained so he has some time before starting school in September to really get the hang of it. He’s full time in nursery and they’re very supportive but are not having many more successes there. I feel like I’ve tried everything so any advice for potty training a very stubborn toddler?
