Child abuse?

I am a dad (30)

I see my son regularly. He is 5 years old. There have been on going legal proceedings for joint custody, they are just coming to an end, and seem to be ending in a positive, and in my favour.

today I have picked my son up, he has told me that yesterday, his grandfather, grabbed him by the arm, twisted it, and threw him from the sofa onto the floor. He said this made him cry and he was hurt from it.

he told me his grandfather did this because my son was laying across his sister and annoying her on the sofa.

please bear in mind that this took place in Scotland, where it is completely against the law to hit children in any way.

how do I approach this? Do I call the police and keep the child with me? Am I over reacting? He usually lives with his mum, but I don’t have direct contact with her or know where she lives. He does spend a lot of time at his grandparents though.

I am actually shocked and appalled that this has been done to my son. I really need some advice.

thanks

Tell social services if they’re involved and tell the police

If it happened today or yesterday get him checked out for any marks or bruises
