So when do you know when to start potty training?

I've searched through this whole topic but cannot find the answer! (Not that i expected it to be that easy of course!)

DS is almost 2yo he knows that his potty is for 'wee wee', often sits on it etc but has never actually wee'd in it, unless i've pushed it under his stream of wee instead of it going all over the carpet!

When do you know? Is there a good age to try?

Any info would be extremely useful for a first time mum, muddling her way around!

I don't know either - DS will be 2 in May, but has started to take an interest in the toilet, so I got a toddler seat for it and he has started to wee in the loo - abs no interest in the potty though. I think its as we use the loo, so he gets the idea that its the thing to do.

No idea how to go on from here though !

i waited until ds asked me if he could use the potty and wear big boy pants - he was 3 by then but we only ever had 3 accidents, so worked out pretty well!

if you think they're ready, try it for 48hrs (keep the night time nappy on tho) and see how they get on. it will become very clear as to whether they have any control. i tried my ds in pants when he was 26 months and he just couldn't feel that he needed to go. he knew when he had wee-ed but not when he needed to iyswim. crucial difference!
