What age were you when you had your first baby?

Sorry I know this question has probably already been asked 1000 times on here.

But I'd like to know what age were you, how long did it take, and did you have any health problems?

I know that the answers are different for everyone and it won't give me any insight as to what it will be like for me. But I'm just interested in knowing ☺️

With DS1 I was 27, we tried for 7 months. No health issues, easy pregnancy, spontaneous but horrible labour.

Miscarriage with complications at 29.

With DS2 I was 30, got pregnant first cycle, had some bleeding (hematoma), and obstetric cholestasis, induced and easy ish labour and birth.

HeraSyndulla · 29/11/2023 12:59

Juicyjuicymango · 29/11/2023 13:01

25 for my first and 26 for my second.
Trying to work out how long. Fingers don't fail me now 😂 8 months I think.

Second was born 15 months after the first so conceived 6 months after first was born.

Health problems before I had them? No. Well, I was fat but apart from that. 😁

theresnolimits · 29/11/2023 13:10

29 - came off the pill after ten years and never had a period - conceived within the first month. Second at 32 again within a month of trying. No problems with either.

Did get pregnant again two months after the second one was born - didn't use contraceptives as thought breastfeeding etc. But lost it at 6 weeks as it wasn't meant to be and my body clearly wasn't ready.

I thank my lucky stars, especially when I hear other people's stories.

WYorkshireRose · 29/11/2023 13:11

30, almost 31.

No health problems during pregnancy, but labour lasted 48 hours+ and ended in an EMCS.

EarthyMangold · 29/11/2023 13:16

32 (accidental)
34
37
39 (accidental)

I was really lucky, all very textbook, no difficulties. Nausea in first trimester but never actually sick. Middle 2 were planned and conceived pretty much straight away.

Broodywuz · 29/11/2023 13:18

30 when baby was born. Was off the pill for just over 1 year, fell pregnant on cycle 9 of actively trying.
My advice to anyone thinking about trying is come off any hormonal contraception, my cycles were very long when I first came off the pill and i'm pretty sure i wasn't ovulating. Benn off any hormonal contraception for 6 years now and know my cycles like clockwork, wish i'd stopped sooner

tokesqueen · 29/11/2023 13:19

30 for DC1 (almost 31), 33 for DC2.
Fell pregnant very quickly, no problems except sickness, two second degree tears and perfect age gap for us.

Mrssnee16 · 29/11/2023 13:33

21 with my first-2005
24 with my second-2009
29 with my third-2013
36 with my forth-2020
All boys ❤️

Mangotango39 · 29/11/2023 13:39

Pregnant at 29 . Due feb and I am now 30.
Conceived first month trying. Pcos, high bmi, past thyroid issues therefore I am not the best model for east conceiving!

I did have two miscarriages previously through accidents sadly x

Dyra · 29/11/2023 13:44

I was 33 when I had my first. We'd started trying when I was 28, so it was a long hard slog getting there. I had one miscarriage in that time.

My second was born a few months before my 36th birthday.

AutumnOcean · 29/11/2023 13:56

I was 29 and it took 4 months after a second Laparoscopic to treat endometriosis.

SarahShorty · 29/11/2023 13:58

Still trying. 2 years, 4 losses. I'll check back if I ever get there.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 29/11/2023 14:03

I was 24 when I got pregnant and gave birth a few days after I turned 25. It took me two months to conceive. I had a mostly easy pregnancy although towards the end of it I developed pretty bad hip pain. I was also diagnosed with gestational diabetes which I knew I was at risk of getting because I have a close relative with type 1 diabetes. I was able to control the gestational diabetes with diet alone though and my son was born 100% healthy.

MarleyandMarleyWoo · 29/11/2023 15:01

I was 27, took two years ttc. Health wise, I’ve got PCOS. I had severe vomiting every day during my pregnancy but I still absolutely loved it, just felt super grateful, and didn’t struggle with anything else. Had an elective C-section which was a dream, both to have and to recover from. I was out walking the dogs with my son in a sling after a few days.

I have now been trying nearly two years for number 2, at 29. We started trying almost immediately as knew it took so long last time.

Cdoc · 29/11/2023 15:11

33, first month trying, had a mmc. Pregnant again before getting a period, still 33. Baby is now 8 months (I was 34 when he was born, husband is 37). I also have endometriosis

FizzyStream · 29/11/2023 15:12

I turned 32 just after DS1 was born and turned 35 just after DS2 was born. No health issues and relatively normal births.

DS2 has ADHD, but so do I, so I think that's genetic rather than maternal age related.

Forevermermaid · 29/11/2023 15:19

1st - 28 and conceived first month of trying.

2nd - 29, was on the pill and DC1 was only four months old when I found out I was pregnant. Completely unplanned but I could not be happier that I had them so close in age.

DramaAlpaca · 29/11/2023 15:29

I was 29. It took almost a year to conceive. No health issues at all. Conceived DC2 literally first try, which was a bit of a surprise, and took about 4 months for DC3.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 29/11/2023 15:29

32 with first and 36 with second. Both times it took 4/5 months, but I have lean PCOS, so that was only 2/3 cycles. I barely ever ovulate, but when I do, I get pregnant quickly.

IHeartGeneHunt · 29/11/2023 15:43

I was 36 when I had my daughter, but I was first pregnant at 19.
Horrible, horrible pregnancy, I had pre eclampsia, SPD so badly I was bedbound, reflux that woke me up choking on acid, fluid everywhere, pleurisy; then I went to 42+3 and was induced, which failed, was in labour for three days and got sepsis and had an emergency section.
Then I had a seizure on the table and didn't see my daughter born because I was being sick onto a nurse.
Five days in NICU, it took me over a year to be able to walk properly/bend at the waist.
I would have liked another but I honestly think it would kill me.

Bunny2006 · 29/11/2023 16:09

26 when gave birth, 8 years after stopping contraception and some time of that actively trying, others seeing if it would happen but not tracking anything etc, no known health problems as to why it took that long, pregnancy and birth fine although induction with drip
