Dealing with 5 year old friendship issues

How do you deal with your young kids and their friendship issues?

My nearly 5 year old DD was in floods of tears tonight as she is trying to deal with friends not playing with her. It was kinda heartbreaking when she told me that she must be a bad girl as she couldn't play the game 'properly' (according to the little girl who takes charge) and ruined it for the other child.

We had a big cuddle and talked about how other people don't get to tell us how and who to play with but she still went to bed quite upset.

Have I got years of this to go? Do i just let her talk or try and help?

I’d definitely make school aware as they will keep an eye on the situation and step in if needed as it sounds like something she shouldn’t have to just accept.
Would also work on building friendships by having kids round to play etc as it usually helps to build stronger friendships and means they are more protected.

Thanks, I'll speak with her teacher tomorrow.

Good idea on the play dates too.
