My 3 1/2 year old has been a real challenge to potty train. After a lot of hard work it feels like we've made real progress with wees. However, he has still never pooed in the potty/toilet. I know it can take a while to crack poos but my biggest concern is he is going ages without pooing at all.
I have tried putting his nappy on half an hour before bed in the evening and taking it off half an hour after he gets up in the morning to allow him to just go in there for the time being. And I have tried letting him sit on the potty and watch an episode of TV (he still doesn't really like the proper toilet). But he's still rarely going. It's like he's so used to holding everything in he's struggling to release it. We are now on 2 1/2 days without pooing (normally been every 48 hours since we started potty training and was pretty religiously going every 24 hours before potty training).
I am really worried he is going to get really constipated and it's going to make everything worse. I have tried feeding him as much fibre as possible, unfortunately he isn't a big fan of orange juice or prunes which I know can help.
Is this normal at this point or should I be considering a GP visit? He's never been constipated before.
