Power wetting cloth wearing DD 18mos weeing through everything - advice please!

The title says it all really

DD2 been in cloth from birth (fluffles and airflows and more recently hemp boosted fuzzis). The last couple of weeks she has been drinking more water during the day but not weeing as often and then power weeing causing big leaks. At night time she sleeps on her tummy and this is causing big problems with leaks, waking her up and distressing her. She is petite for her age with skinny legs but I ensure the wraps/legs are done up as tight as poss.

So, at night I've tried Bumhuggers but these leaked and last night a minky which she wet through after 15 minutes of being in her cot. Asked the HV for advice about cutting down on her milk at night time but she said to up the daytime water (Huh?)

I'm considering potty training her as a possible solution as she tells me when she's doing a wee/poo but at 18mos it seems a little early? Plus, her bum's too small for the potty

Before I shell out to try disp does anyone have any advice please as my washing pile is mounting up!

Thanks

for my dd who was like that I used double boosted bumbles with an airflow wrap which was the only thing that worked. I found pocket nappies to be useless on her and I don't think fluffles are the most absorbant.

Fluffles are ok in my book, but what are you boosting them with? I have to use the fluffle booster, bamboo booster + a microfibre one (like a fuzzi insert) b/t wrap and nappy. I'm sure I've seen flame on here saying fuzzis don't work too well when you boost them too much, they don't fit right. I had a similar issue and was advised the wrap was maybe too small but possibly you need to boost the fluffle more?

or boost on the outside of the fluffle before the wrap

I don't have anything to add, except to say that I've started a very similar thread today; dd is suddenly drinking loads and weeing, it seems, even more out. I shall watch with interest!

The problem is....I shifted my fluffles a few weeks ago as she had become too wriggly for a 2 part system and the fuzzis that we had were working fine. I kept one fluffle though and tried this stuffed as I did before with the normal insert, a hemp booster and MF cloth with an airflow and she was still wet in the am.

I've also tried over and under stuffing the fuzzis so don't think it's an absorbency problem esp. as the minky leaked within 15 minutes of putting it on.

She's only just started walking so I'm wondering if her skinny legs are now super skinny as she's probably lost a bit of weight. Her hips and waist are still ok though.

Any other ideas for good adjustable elastic legs and absorbency please? She's 22lbs.

hemp hemp hemp
I found the growing greens hemp nappies fabulous. they are so thin that if you need to boost them with more hemp you dont end up with a huge bottom. they are superbly absorbant too

CarGirl · 14/03/2008 14:54

Buy my HemPresto nappies - as good as a 2 parter (and are hemp) and go on like an all in one nappy!

cmotdibbler · 14/03/2008 15:01

It might be an immediacy of absorption problem if shes doing really big wees, the fleece lining just can't shift the wee through to the absorbent layer fast enough, which would explain the Minky leaking that fast.

Try putting a terry booster inside the Fuzzi so shes directly onto that, and see whether that works.

screaminghabdabs · 14/03/2008 17:41

Thanks for all the advice

I'll try the terry booster directly inside first and if that doesn't work I'll come back to you CarGirl

I'd like to try and work with the fuzzis ideally as she's probably only got a few months left in nappies (LOL) and I don't really want to buy or add any more to my mahoosive collection if I can help it.

Fingers crossed for tonight...
