Feeling bored on mat leave

LO is 6 months and has taken a turn for the worse in terms of sleep. Cries at every nap time and bedtime is a shitshow so we both go to bed at 8pm and cosleep. No evenings for me whatsoever to spend time with DP but hey ho it’s basically been this way since LO was born so just trying to ride the wave until it gets better really.

im on mat leave but finding it so boring right now. Used to enjoy long walks but it’s freezing right now I can’t be bothered. Fed up of baby groups, just doing one a week now. fed up of coffee shops, been to all in my area. Just feeling really bored in general. Weekends are boring too

any ways on making mat leave more fun? Just bored and listless

Hey. I didn’t want to read and run. Sorry you’re getting such little sleep 😞. I really sympathise and it’s just the worse. Is LO teething maybe? Could you try some remedies in case it is?

Is your LO your first child? I also felt this way after my first I wanted to go back to work. I did find in the end that the led baby groups such as sensory classes were much more fun. Do you have any friends with little ones to meet up with? Could you sign up for baby swimming? With the weather getting colder.

I’m now on maternity with my second and feel I’m enjoying it much more this time, with the school runs and clubs for my eldest I feel like I’m constantly racing about, being busy is better but sometimes I wish I could sit down more like I did with my first lol. I hope you manage to find some different bits to do and enjoy the rest of leave xx

I loathed maternity leave. My NCT group just didn’t gel so we never saw one another after the babies hit about three months, then DH and I left London with baby DS, which was a huge mistake. I wrote it off as a bad job, and went back to work early. Everything improved from that moment, and I started enjoying motherhood.

PS DS napped completely unproblematically for his childminder from day one. With me, he barely shut an eye.

Have you made any friends at groups locally? Or used anything like peanut app? I’m coming to the end of 9months mat leave and I feel sad to be going back to work! I found that I often prefer to just have a friend over to the house with their baby too - more relaxing and can be yourself more than when in coffee shops once baby can move around. Hope you start to enjoy again soon

It used to be totally usual to return after 4 or 6 months

Unles...Are you still getting 100% salary as mat pay?
