I didn't get it either!

I know that whopper can mean different things to people i.e. big but I know someone who uses whopper to mean idiot.

mummsypie67 · 21/11/2023 19:27

rude

Hah. I like it! Fairly clever, hard for kids to get and easy to explain if they do.

I think it's a very clever ad. Children either understand and have twigged or it will go over their heads.

Sb123455 · 21/11/2023 19:42

Love the idea but really not appropriate at all - my two know whopper and still believe in Father Christmas and they’d put two and two together! Many young ones won’t have heard whopper but there are many who have and I’d be really annoyed if my kids saw this and then twigged! (Although it would be cheaper…..lol). Rubbish way to ruin Christmas.

VeronicaSawyer89 · 21/11/2023 19:46

Just shows the way my mind works because I was trying to figure out what was dirty about it. 😂

BreadBag · 21/11/2023 19:49

I hate to be the predictable poster but you know kids start figuring it out by 7 or 8 most of the time anyway, Yes there are the outliers I thought my DD was one of them but at 11 we brought it up in the summer and she said she knew.
So children will go along with it and pretend they believe because they don't want to lose the magic either, it's very rare for Christmas to be ruined by children finding out because the majority understand its a game everyone plays because its fun.
Source: I'm a teacher I've seen hundreds of kids find out over the years.

It’s quite funny, and any child young enough to believe in Father Christmas is very unlikely to get the joke.

What I was about to say

MumDESTORYER69420 · 22/11/2023 17:25

Oh shut up you miserable bastard it’s only an advert get a grip sue

WeekWeekWeek · 22/11/2023 17:27

If your kid is old enough to understand the nuance of that ad, they don’t believe in Santa anyway.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 22/11/2023 17:38

@mummsypie67
Did YOUR kid twig then?

Lochroy · 22/11/2023 17:39

I didn't get it at all, but OP's use of the word inappropriate had me looking for tomatoes laid out as balls or boobs on the tray!

WishIMite · 22/11/2023 17:41

Hahaha it’s genius

Soonenough · 22/11/2023 22:01

I thought it was to do with Mommy Kissing Santa Claus as he is a fit Dad. Duh

junbean · 22/11/2023 22:05

How is that inappropriate? You're acting like religion or something serious is involved. I didn't even read it as anything but the name of the burger.

Verite1 · 22/11/2023 22:07

That is very funny

jays · 22/11/2023 22:10

Oh I think that’s brilliant! It’ll go right over the head of those it’s supposed to, I love it! And I also love Santa to clarify!

ballsdeep · 22/11/2023 22:15

Fanofbrianbilston · 21/11/2023 19:09

He looks quite suggestive, like he’s got a whopper for you 😆😆 sexy Santa

That’s what I thought! I was expecting to see an aubergine poking out of the bun

VeronicaSawyer89 · 21/11/2023 19:46

I thought the same, he's a hot Santa 😂

purpleme12 · 22/11/2023 22:28

No child who believes in Santa Claus is going to get the double meaning here! Come on!

AirFryerFrequentFlyer · 22/11/2023 22:43

WeekWeekWeek · 22/11/2023 17:27

This is what I was thinking. If they are old enough to work it out, they likely know anyway.

Chill.

That’s what my pervy mind thought too.

TheSpruce · 22/11/2023 22:46

Do you work for Burger King? Because until you made this fake outrage post I think none of us even knew this was a thing 🤔

Notmetoo · 22/11/2023 22:46

RampantIvy · 21/11/2023 19:05

Seriously?

I don't think a small child would get it.
And TBH neither did I Blush

I didn't get it either so I'm.sure a child wouldn't.

But how? They already know - or you can tell them - that BK famously sell a signature burger that they call a 'Whopper'. As the ad is being shown in the run-up to Christmas, they've got a picture of Santa to show that he enjoys eating whopper burgers too, with the name of the product being advertised proudly written at the top.

It's just a word that can also mean something else - lots of words do. Why is it any different from them seeing a double-glazing company advertising new windows and suspecting that something must be amiss/rude/inappropriate because that word also happens to be used for a computer operating system?
