Is it me?

DS is 4 and in reception, I take him up in the morning and seems like every parent is walking in with another having nice chats and standing in groups at pick ups. I'm generally quite friendly but don't seem to be included in this. I would say hi to the parents I recognise from nursery and they say hi back but that's it. It's getting me down and making me dread dropping or collecting him as I feel lonely afterwards. Is there something wrong with me? Would love to have a few mums to talk to at drop offs and even get a play date organised

When my first went to school I didn’t really wanna make any mum friends , but one of the mums came up to me and we started talking and now good friends
now with my 3rd child I’m in and out lol don’t really have the time so keep my head down , but there are people that have their little groups
but we all have a wassap group to keep each other up to date with school things
do u have one ?
sometimes some mums put in there about meeting up , although I’ve found they do this more with my older children rather than the little ones

Do you just say hi, or do you start a conversation?

I’m always up for a playground chat with anyone, but I know that’s not the case with everyone. If someone literally just said Hi to me, I might assume they’re not up for a chat.

With the mums I have known for a few years now there are only a couple I go and have a conversation with
my other son is in 4+ but I must say I haven’t even said hi to any of them
no one seems to chat to each other yet …

if u all do have a wassap group or a fb group for the class (we have both ) maybe put it in there if anyone would like to meet up for a play date , I’m sure u would get a reply

Thanks for the replies, I say hi but it's usually while walking past so no one stops for a chat, I do start some conversations while waiting at pick up, everyone always chats back but then the kids come out and that's it over- maybe I'm expecting too much?

Yes we have a WhatsApp group but it's pretty quiet in there, just talk about putting money towards a gift for the teacher but could see if anyone wants to go to the park after school, problem is it's quite cold and I'd very so awkward if no one wrote back
