15 month old waking out of habit, night weaning suggestions please

Hi guys,

First time poster hoping for some encouraging stories or advice around night weaning.

My 15 month old daughter has had a two month run of various illnesses meaning we have regressed from one wake in the night to two and returned to feeding to sleep. Despite wanting to night wean shortly after she turned one I didn’t want to do that while she was poorly. Now we seem to be coming out the other side of the sickness with a very engrained pattern of waking at 11 and 4. Before she was sick she was very easy to settle and my partner could do it sometimes but now each wake up takes an hour of BF and she screams blue murder if my partner goes in. Though he can settle her fine in the day or if she does a random wake before 11. I am concerned that this expectation to feed at these times is going to be hard to break.

She can be put down awake most of the time, though sometimes she cling to me and I need to feed her until she is sleepy. I think my question really is; should we push through a few awful nights of my partner doing the wake ups and cold Turkey it at night or is it better to try and break the feeding to sleep habit first.

on top of all of this she has just started walking, has only just got her first tooth so although I am quite desperate to stop the long feeds at night I am really keen not to overly distress her.

Thank you!
