Hi
I don’t know if this is the right place , not really sure where to post !

I wish to start a weekly group for teens with autism in my area . I would say children and teens really, secondary school age , to help them meet others and engage , familiarise themselves with social situations .

I don’t particularly want to start with organised activities etc just a relaxed place really - Refreshments for parents , maybe some sensory / fidget toys , maybe a console and TV set up …. More than anything I just want it to be a very relaxed place where teens can safely “hang out “ .

My question is - what are the legalities of this ? I would be charging but this would not be for profit it would be towards the cost of the space . Adults would stay at all times , so it is not childcare . Myself and my partner are both DBS checked due to the nature of our work - I have safeguarding qualifications. Would I need a food hygiene if there were hot drinks being served and maybe biscuits out ? Would I need some form of public liability ?
