Cmpa?

Bit of advise needed please. Since about a week or two son has suffered with nose congestion(mostly when laying down for long periods like at night). About the same time his pops went from being firmer to mostly runny. Didn’t think anything of it, thought it was normal.
he is now 9 weeks old and symptoms are -

  • still nasal congestion(improved a slight bit after seeing cranial osteopath)
  • wheezy and coughs
  • gets hiccups a lot after milk
  • not putting on much weight(although he seems to be drinking enough for his age)
  • his skin on face is quiet dry
i don’t know if these are in line with a cmpa or not?! it’s only tonight I’ve thought about his poos after cleaning one that went all over the sofa that his poos are more like explosions in the nappy

To add he is a very happy baby I would say, lots of smiles… awake a lot in the day and sleeps well at night

Sounds like reflux. Reflux is usually a symptom of something else rather than being a condition on its own. It could be CMPA or something else entirely. If he’s happy and sleeping well then that’s a good sign. My little boy had reflux and some of the symptoms you describe and it turned out he had a posterior tongue tie. He was a really congested and snuffly baby and had on/off eczema, those can be CMPA symptoms but for us it was unrelated and seemed to clear up on its own after a few months. Is he breast or bottle fed?

Thanks for replying!
he’s bottle fed. I think my biggest concern is his nappies!
was your little one bottle or breast? And what were his nappies like?

My ds had CMPA. He didn’t stop crying for 7 months. It was a nightmare. It only started to ease when the drs diagnosed it and switched his milk

It doesn't sound like cmpa to me
It sounds like a virus/cold which can make them have diarrhea because they swallow so much snot.

Dry skin Tues in with colder days and central heating being on.

Mine was breastfed so maybe not related then. If he is generally happy then I’d say it’s unlikely to be CMPA. The babies I know of that have had it have been miserable.

Did any of you use aptimal and find that poos were runny like those of a breast fed baby?
