Stopping breastfeeding

Hi all,

I would appreciate some advice regarding stopping breastfeeding. I would like to stop breastfeeding my 10 month old DD by the time she is about 11 months. I want to stop all breast feeds.

She currently has 4 feeds a day. A breast feed on waking (any time between 5 and 7), a breast or bottle feed after morning nap (any time between 10 and 11:30), a breast feed after her afternoon nap (between 3 and 4) and then a bottle before bed at about 6:30-7.

She has 3 meals a day and eats a good amount.

I'm not sure whether I should just drop one of the feeds altogether and then a couple of weeks later replace the remaining breast feeds with a bottle? I'm not sure which feeds to drop it replace or the order to do them in? I don't feed on demand I have just fed in waking for a while now.

Thanks x

I've just stopped after 19 months and if this were me, I'd cut out the 2 day time feeds first and replace with whatever alternative milk they like, from a sippy cup.
The morning and bedtime they will be more attached to I think. I found cutting the morning feed quite painless as it was more for me to get some snuggle time tbh, and my son was very easily distracted by a morning sippy cup and breakfast. Bedtime was highly linked to the routine so that was the last to go but by that point my supply was low anyway so again, it wasn't too bad. Good luck with it and just follow your gut instinct of what you personally want to do

I agree to stop the middle of the day feeds first one at a time. So drop one, then about a week later, the second one etc until you’ve dropped them all. Since she sometimes has a bottle after morning nap, I’d start with that one.
