Hi all, my 13 year old is an aspiring actor, we live in London. We have started to apply to agencies and have had interest from Scallywags and Bruce and Brown. Was wondering if anyone had experience (good and bad) of these specific agencies or others in London or how the process works in terms of fees etc. It's a bit of a minefield out there and I want to be well informed before I sign on the dotted line.
Thanks in advance!
MM

Try Daisy & Dukes, I know a lot of people with them, they are 100% legit and have a good reputation.

Moonsmum · 14/11/2023 12:41

Thanks Fifiellz, we have applied to them too!

Join the Facebook group " Parents of Child models & actors uk" they have a list of legit agencies on there and valuable advice for applications.
On a personal level, my kids are with TTA, Rebel Nineteen and Lacara. All great!

BTW Bruce and Brown are a top agency so if they are showing interest that's amazing!

Moonsmum · 14/11/2023 12:51

Thanks Mintich, will do that!

My daughter worked for Bruce & Brown when she was a baby. They don't charge any fees.

Hi all I was wondering if I could have some advice.

I am looking to pursue acting alongside my various other stuff etc. I am currently with an agency, they are VERY small, submit me for work but sadly I dunno, I just am not happy with the agency. The online presence is really bad and hardly any of their talent book jobs which is slightly concerning... I wanted some advice as I am new to this agency. Is it better to stay and just see or leave and join a more well known agency that you regularly see their talents on the TV or in a magazine like Bruce and Brown, PD Management, Allen and Abel, Pure Drama or something like those that are on the list of 20 most reputable agencies... I don't want to be wasting my money... I have to pay for various other stuff too it's not just Spotlight...

I hope you can all help.

Bruno :)

@BWilson12 is this for you or your child?

BWilson12 · 02/03/2024 10:37

Ah no apologies it's for me. Sorry should have mentioned that.

Mrose92 · 17/04/2024 22:00

Hi! Any reviews on Purple Giraffe agency? Are they good for a 10-11 year old theatre kid? Any feedback appreciated.

Somethink · 17/05/2024 07:29

Hello, do you know roughly how much children earn from this? E.g. for an advertisement photoshoot. (Yes yes I know that's not the reason to sign up, but just wondering)

itsallabitofamystery · 17/05/2024 07:45

@Somethink it'll vary on who it's for. My DD got £3.5k for an overseas gaming advert, all expenses paid. I received £750 in chaperone fees. But recently got £250 for a mental health video. Costs can vary massively.

Rachel19880 · 17/06/2024 11:36

@itsallabitofamystery Can ask ask what agencies it is you are with, guessing very legit? Thats fab your little one has achieved that.

mondaytosunday · 17/06/2024 12:31

My nephew is signed with Alexandra Ray Talent and has just got a commercial filming abroad.

mondaytosunday · 17/06/2024 12:32

To add the boys parents are both lawyers so I'm sure they did due diligence when signing the contract! Their boy is 13.

Pinkstuffs · 17/06/2024 12:36

I used to work in a job where we regularly cast child models and we paid around £600 per day from memory, we sometimes paid expenses. We used Scallywags, B&B, Sandra Reynolds, Bruce and Brown, Elisabeth Smith, Norrie Carr

dd22 · 24/11/2024 21:39

All I’m saying is do not go to daisy and dukes unless you have good connections cuz you won’t get any jobs it’s all favouritism to get anything and you never get noticed unless you rlly suck dey did

Faheem · 15/01/2025 21:47

Hi dear. I’m looking for my daughter for modelling, do I need to go through the photo shoots, from modelskkids where they are asking registration fee £50 refundable and £500 to make the portfolio to submit to the agency.
can I directly apply to the Bruce and Brown and other agencies,
if yes please guide me how to take photos my our mobile.
Response is highly appreciated.
kind regards
faheem

mintich · 17/01/2025 20:52

You don't need a portfolio to apply to agencies. Don't go to that photo shoot it's a scam!
Apply to proper agencies. They will want snapshots from hone

daffodilmummy · 03/03/2025 09:42

My DD (7yo) was offered a contract by Alexandra Ray Talent agency.
They were very nice and helpful over the phone and their contract is short and basic. However, I can't find any reviews about them online. If parents and kids were happy with them. If they can secure jobs for kids, how are they in crisis situations etc.
I also worry a bit about missing the school. We haven't told the school yet that we are going to apply for this kind of work that might involve missing school. I'm sure they would not like it. I'd be grateful if you could share how you dealt with the school when your child has got a job that caused missing school.

My DC is with Mark Jermin Management and we love it there. It can be really tough to know which one to go for or whats suited to you. Mark Jermin have a podcast with advice for parents of young actors and just information about the acting industry where they talk about lots of different talent agencies too.
It's here if you wanted to have a listen, might help you on your journey navigating it all. https://pushypushy.buzzsprout.com/
