There is a curriculum (maths) evening at school today and DH can't really leave work early to go. DS1 didn't want to go if Daddy couldn't come so I told him he didn't have to go but Daddy couldn't leave work.

Phoned DH and he will leave work 45 minutes early to take DS1. DS1 just wants to go on his own and have some "time alone with Daddy." DD wants to go too. I can't be objective as DD has been a little moo since last night but tbh I think it is more important that DS1 goes than DD does. Chances are he won't go if she does.

I want to let DS have his time with Daddy but is it fair to DD to say it is his time. Is she really going to miss out if she doesn't go?

Yes - absolutely - let your ds have some time alone with his daddy. Then arrange for your dd and dh to do something just the two of them another time, or think of something you and dd can do alone together.
If dd really wants to go for the maths stuff and ds isn't bothered - switch it round, you have time with ds tonight and arrange for dh and ds to do boy stuff this weekend.

DS is almost 7 and DD is 4 1/2.

DS really wants to go but I don't think DD would be bothered. She hadn't mentioned it and only wants to go because she knows about it now. DS2 wants to go and he is 2.

I was going to go and would have had to take all of them but DS only wants to go if he can go with Daddy.

DD isn't going now as she has behaved appalingly so problem solved.

Actually DH is coming home early to take DD to a party tomorrow so all fair.
