Anyone put an infant in a floor bed?

My 10 month old sleeps on a floor bed, he was waking up in my room so needed to go in his own and he feeds to sleep and wouldn't transfer to his cot without over an hour of rocking and shhing so I put him on a floor bed, where I can lie next to him and feed him and then just get up and walk out. Night feeds I can fall back asleep with him. He can't move yet, and sleeps in a sleep sack which should help but I'm aware once he starts moving I might regret this choice. He sleeps through ever since I moved him and the room is baby proof. Has anyone done this? I've had some weird reactions and people saying they kept their kids in their cots for as long as physically possible. Has anyone done this?! How was it in the long term?!

Both of mine went into beds around 11 months. One got up one night and had a mooch around for 5 mins before getting back into bed. Other than that they've never got out of bed to play at night and they're both very different personalities.

Yes we did this when DD was 8 months, it was amazing and worked really well for us, especially when she woke up from naps and could just get herself up, she really liked that. Unfortunately, when we moved when she was 15 months, we had to put her back in her cot as there's no physical room for 2 beds in this house. 😭 We are definitely putting her back in the floor bed when we move again though!

My eldest had a floor bed until she was about 3 and a half. It worked really well, and no worries about her falling out of bed!

Both mine got proper beds by their first birthday. I think DD1 thought the floor was lava, as she never got out until she was nearly 4, she would just shout for us. DD2 has always been good at bedtime, but has always woken early, so would bumble around in her bedroom until we came in. No problems IMO

Yup, mattress on my floor next to our bed 10 months. Floor bed in her own room at 12 months. Like you, I fed to sleep and rolled away. So much easier

She's now 23 months & her floor bed has been fab. She moves so much in her sleep, half the time ends up on the carpet but never wakes. Just make sure the room is baby safe and all is good. When she wakes for the day she comes into our room

Its an ikea kura that we hacked. At some stage we'll change to bunk bed, so her baby sister can go on the floor. At a later date it can be an elevated bed with den or storage underneath or just a 'normal' kid bed. Should do her at least a decade

Mi e slept with me until they weaned (around 16 months) then into toddler beds, both were fully mobile and trotted into my room and climbed into my bed. I had a cot for younger but it was barely used, Mostly as a safe place to put them eg cooking, dd2 climbed out of it at 14 months! She's into rock climbing as an adult Grin

Yes it's an IKEA kura we've put him in! It works brilliant with the mattress on the floor and the sides working as bed guards! Glad it's still working out for you!

Have you heard of Montessori? Absolutely nothing wrong with floor beds in a baby proof room, they promote independence and self-reliance. I have found I'm also very much on my own in my circle with this approach to parenting but it suits us. We had a cot but as PP said only used it to safely contain my DC while I had a shower each day, DC didn't sleep in it!

Yep, with 2 children. Both moved into lowish double bed with bed guards on not long before 2 yrs old. DD2 only spent her first night in the cot at the hospital and then was in bed with me.
