Feeling burnt out

Hi,

Im not sure what the point of this post is, I suppose just to feel like I’m not an awful mum. I’ve got two DC, just about to turn 3 and 20 months. I love them to death but today my brain feels like it’s gone on strike. Just started crying as DH and I have been trying to get them dressed to go out for a walk before tea.

I feel like 90% of my life is taken up by trying to get clothes on them and getting them out of the door. It’s such a battle every time and so exhausting. They’re not misbehaving, it’s just the logistics of trying to get snacks in them, having a drink, fresh nappies, coats and shoes and bags ready. All whilst they’re running around playing and taking off items of clothing faster than I can get them on. Clearly I couldn’t cope with it this afternoon and have burst emotionally.

DH is lovely and has bundled them out of the door for their walk and told me to stay at home and have a glass of wine. But now I’ve got such huge mum guilt for not joining in with them all!

It’s hard to win sometimes isn’t it.

Im hoping this gets better in the next couple of years? I suppose it’s just having two toddlers that’s getting on top of me.

It 100% gets easier. I promise.

You're in the trenches right now and it feels relentless. Then one day you realise they've brushed their teeth or got themselves dressed by themselves and the cloud starts to shift.

Things get better.
