Co-Sleeping - need a new mattress/mattress topper

So after a week of no sleep with our newborn our midwife suggested co sleeping! Our now 10 day old is a super clingy little boy so is desperate to be close to me. We have slept so much better the last two nights, however I’m now realising our mattress is too soft for him as a memory foam one!

Could any existing co sleepers suggest a firm mattress topper or a cheaper firm mattress (gotta do what you gotta do)?

TIA!

Following with interest (and hopefully this comment gives this post a little bump) as we're in same position RE soft (very expensive 🙈) mattress.
For now sticking with next to me crib which does provide some benefits of cosleeping but not all.

I bought the Ikea pocketsprung mattress (£300ish) specifically for cosleeping and very happy with it.

Sidecar cribs can be great if you haven't tried one!

Not sure re matress topper though. I co sleep currently and the matress we use is already firm (I hate it lol)
