Sick Children

We've been living in New Zealand, only had a mild bout of covid there, kids not exposed to bugs here. We recently arrived in the UK at my mum's and DC are at school. For the past week we have all been really sick with what I assume is flu (covid test was negative). Temperature, horrid cough, kids sleeping during the day, the works. DD(5) seemed to brighten on Wednesday but then slept most of yesterday. Both DD and DS(9) went to school today reluctantly (DH's idea). DD fell asleep there. Now tonight they seem worse again, temperatures, coughs, DD fell asleep on the way home etc.

We haven't had flu like this before. We don't have a GP here yet. I'm a bit worried. Should I call NHS Direct tomorrow or does it just sound like bad flu that is doing the rounds? I don't have a mums/school network to rely on. Thanks x

There are several bad coughs/colds going round at the moment.

How high is the fever? If tolerable, they probably just need rest. Calpol and cuddles as required. If the fever is high/sustained or there are other worrying signs (won't look at lights, stiff neck, the usual concerning things!) Then call.
