Help! Sick baby!

My son is 8 months old and has a stinking cold. Last night as I was heating up his dinner he projectile vomited lots (and I mean lots!) all over daddy as he got home from work (welcome home Daddy!) No fever, no other symptoms, just grumpy, snotty and clingy.
Since then he’s only been breastfed - he slept very poorly and has had lots of milk in the night.
Should I return to solids this morning? He normally has yoghurt, cereal or porridge and I know that dairy isn’t the best for if you have a cold. Or should I just continue with the breast milk and wait until lunch time.

I’d just offer him wee bits. Maybe an icelolly. Wee bit if toast or a bit banana and see how they go.

If he's had no more vomiting or diarrhoea I'd give him whatever her fancies eating

Does he have any fluids other than milk?

Mummumgem · 09/11/2023 08:53

I would second maybe a mashed banana, or a little toast stay clear of dairy at this stage, he’s having BM so he’s fine.

just editing to add, babies swallow a lot of their phlegm that’s what he brought up yesterday, better out than in !, but his tummy might be sore now so a little easy to digest food until he’s settled. If he’s not sick again at lunch time offer him something more

Oh we do have some banana actually - it’s shopping day so we’re limited on choice!

He has some water with meals but other than that just milk.

He could be drinking a lot of milk because he has a sore or dry throat to soothe. I'd offer water and easy to eat foods.

Banana, yogurt etc

Thank you for your help everyone. He’s just had half a banana (don’t want to overwhelm his tummy) and he’s pinched a chunk of my toast! Got the water cup to hand too.
Fingers crossed it all stays down now!
