Sickly toddler - would you take them to playgroup?

Ok, DS2 is 2.6yrs and was up on Sunday night being sick. He had a slight temp yesterday 37 - so we kept him home from nursery and gave him a duvet day in front of CBeebies. He didn't want to eat anything all day (not even choc biscuits!) but drank loads of water. Today he wanted to get dressed and has eaten some cornflakes and is now eating some dry special K. His temp is still 37 but he is much better in himself and no puking! Just runny nose. Would you take him to playgroup to get him out and about or would you keep indoors again?

I would let him rest at home again.

what if he doesn't want to stay home but wants to go to playgroup?

as it is tuesday, and if he wants to go, I'd take him, but be prepared to leave early.

i wouldnt bcos altho hes feeling a little better he might pick up worse stuff there or pass along his germs ....id wrap up and go to the park or for a walk

tootiredtothink · 11/03/2008 08:36

He is 2! I don't think 2 year olds should be in charge just yet (although mine very nearly is so i know how you feel!!!!) The bug thats going around at the moment is a terrible one to have and can leave you weak for a few days afterwards. Leave him at home and if his temp and eating habits are back to normal today then send him in tomorrow. xx

wouldn't take him to playgroup but would take to park.

tootiredtothink · 11/03/2008 08:38

Good idea on the park - sure if he knows he got some sort of outing on offer he will be happy.

Mrspanic · 11/03/2008 09:07

Tbh if he still has a temp then his body is still "righting itself" I'd go to the park and see how he gets on, both for his benefit and for the sake of the other children at playgroup.

37 is a normal temperature. But I would keep him off playgroup as it is less than 48 hours since he was sick. It is bitterly cold out too. I would keep him indoors today.

you won't be trapped in the house if you go to the park!!

I'm in a similar position with dd2 - she was off school yesterday and desperate to go back today (was pretty fed up that I made her stay off yesterday!) - but she still has a sore throat and no appetite and is as white as a sheet. I won't let her go back until she eats something! (she is 9 though so slightly different)
