Is “hormones” the teenager equivalent of “teething” in the toddler years?

It was always a running jokes when my DDs were little that I blamed teething for for everything. Dribble and associated rashes around their mouth, loose stools and/or nappy rash, off their food etc etc.

Now my eldest is nearly a teenager and hormones seem to get a similar level of blame. Today she got upset/emotional on the walk home but didn’t know why and my first thought was hormones! She hasn’t started her periods yet so I guess we’re in the “teeth moving around” phase?!

Yes. And for women after 35 it's "perimenopause". Catch-all useless terms.
