Noticed slight discoloration of tooth as it started to emerge but now it's fully through it's very noticeable , got dentist appointment on Friday but very stressed about this .
Dd is 11 months old the tooth first started erupting mid October so still fairly new is this decay ?
She did have quite a nasty injury (learning to stand and slipped cut open her mouth and badly bruised her face ) but this was about a month before the tooth came out came it be related ?

First two photos are what it looks like generally it's not as discoloured as in last photo more just dented in iykwim .

This is enamel hypoplasia. Fairly common, and can be linked to maternal illness or neonatal illness (particularly febrile illness). Parts and severity of teeth affected dependent on timing of those illnesses. It varies whether adult teeth are also affected depending on timing too.
Our daughter has very badly affected baby teeth after meningitis as a tiny baby. Her adult teeth so far seem unaffected. We have been very cautious with tooth care and she has had no issue.

So far she only has 4 teeth and only this one affected but another two are just erupting so we shall see 😬

Hi OP. I've recently noticed my soon to be 11 month old has exactly the same white spots on his front tooth. We have just started brushing his teeth using toothpaste suitable for his age. He loves having them brushed so sometimes I take a while doing it.
After doing some research me and DH think he may have fluorosis.
We have a dentist appointment end of the month. I will watch this thread, hope you can update me what your dentist says.

I wasn't ill during my pregnancy, I didn't take any antibiotics.

diggermama I just googled fluorosis and some of the photos do look very similar 😬, my little one is the same she seems to really like brushing her teeth so she's more than happy for me to do it then wants to try herself 😂 , there's no fluoride in the water where I live so only source would be toothpaste hopefully I haven't been overdoing it 😬.

Will post update after dentist 🤞🤞

@diggermama just back from dentist and she wasn't too concerned says it's likely damage from a fall , or could possibly be hyper mineralization (after googling it does look similar ) shes going to see her again in 3 months and keep an eye on it . X

Thanks for the update OP! I've had a google and yes it does appear to be that. I'll see what our dentist says end of the month. Thanks again 🙂
