Potty training - what now?

DS3 is now reliably trained for wees in the day, but only if we remind him to go every hour or so. Not for poos but I am less worried about that as he is scared of doing it on the potty and I don’t want it to become a ‘thing’. We’ve ventured out of the house for short periods close to home.

How do we move on to weeing out of the house? Also ds is not the same child at nursery, no interest in the potty there. Any advice?

My boys initially didn't like to use loos when out and about. Can you take familiar potty with you? We carried ours around for a month or two and 6 months on I still have one in the back of the car for long journeys as they don't like the noise/harsh smells at service stations.... was never an issue with eldest but I think some just need something familiar to help them relax

Get a travel potty and take it with you when you go out and about

There's a little folding potty you can buy that you put a bag in, it also folds out into a little toilet seat too. Absolutely brilliant when I was potty/toilet training & so easy to just sling in a backpack or whatever. Then just throw the bag. Or dig a little hole & put the seat over it for a bush wee!

Portable toilet seats and pottys. Are the nursery aware or mentioned anything. Are they encouring him?

To avoid that we did Ellmimation communication. Yes a but of hard work but as with any hard work it paya off in the end. My DS was doing all No.2's in the toilet by 15months. No.1s were harder with controlling and knowing to hold. But at 23mo tha he was fully potty trained. Odd accident here and there.
I am glad I did EC is had relaistic expectations. Get him.used to the toilet worse case scenario he won't be afraid of the toilet. Best case scenario he would bw out of nappies by 2.
We still use pull ups at night and long journeys just encase. But he is 95% of the time accident free.

The biggest challenge for me was just letting him be nappy free all day. And having a few weeks of accidents and lots of clean ups..but it helped as he could see what happened and it was more dignified to use the toilet and be discreet. It was hard work and I placed puppy pads all over the place. It got better slowly.
