14 day weigh has really got me down.

I took my lo for his 14 day weigh in today hoping to be signed off and instead they told me he's lost weight since his last weigh in (30grams). I was really shocked because so far my bfing journey has gone really well. He's feeding for a good amount of time, his latch is good, he's content after each feed. He also has plenty of wet and dirty nappies. I've been told to top up his feeds with expressed milk which I'm doing but it's just really got me down tbh. I was also a bit confused by the weights because she got two different weights based on where she put the scales. At the first the scales were on top of a plastic storage box? Anyway I've got to take him back in on Sunday to see if he's gained more weight and I'm now extremely anxious about it. Has anyone else experienced this? Really don't to swap him to formula either as it seems a shame because we've done so well this far.

30g can be the difference between just having done a very wet nappy and having full bladder/bowels, and equally if the scales are on an uneven surface this too will affect the weight.
Carry on as you are and see how next weigh goes, and then compare it to the general curve of the line in the book - I'm sure you're both doing fine if you're getting the wet./pooey nappies.

When was the last weigh in? Random but did he loose the umbilical cord and clip in meantime?! Could be error. Sorry it’s stressful for you.

30g is nothing as others have said. It's really the difference between a wee just before or after the weigh in. However I do empathise. We had terrible trouble with DD2- she was always hovering on or just below the 0.4 centile and I did have a few months of triple feeding and it was hideous, but she's now 2.5, still breastfeeds once a day and while she's not even on the height centiles she hasn't dropped below the 2nd centile for weight in ages. This bit is so stressful but don't get number obsessed as it's the quickest way to lose faith in breastfeeding and sounds like you're doing amazingly. Good luck to you x

Thanks for the replies. @wishing3 yes the cord was on at the last weigh in and it's fallen off since so that may have affected it? Yes its extremely stressful especially when you're already fighting tiredness and hormones! I have the health visitor coming tomorrow so I'll see what he's weighed at with them. It just seems so odd as he's very content and has had no feeding issues. The only thing that I can think of is that milk came in quite late (day 6) so that may have delayed his weight gain.
