Potty Training Day 2 - does this sound on track?

My 2.4yo DS has been showing some toilet readiness signs for a while, so we bit the bullet and decided to say bye bye to the daytime nappy yesterday. I have Wed/Thurs off every week so knew I’d have four days in a row.

Yesterday every pee and one poo was an accident. I was putting him on the potty and catching the last bit of pee, and being really positive but always reminding him pee goes in the potty. He had about 11 pees yesterday.

Today so far we’ve just had the one accident, and as he was started peeing said ‘mummy need potty’. He’s definitely going longer between pees, and does seem like he’s now holding it until he gets to the potty. He also did a poo, and said ‘mummy sore bum’ and I stuck him on and out it came.

Does this sound like we’re making ok progress and he’s ready? I’ve never did this before and am not sure what I’m doing tbh!

That sounds like excellent progress and he's obviously made the link between needing a nd using the potty. Keep going it sounds very positive.

Thank you! He had a good day and is having a good morning so far!

Only thing is that he’ll hold a pee until I tell him to go. Should he be asking to go at this point or will that come? He has amazing language so is capable of asking.

Hes at nursery on Monday which is why I was hoping he would tell us he needed! Should I stop reminding him and give him a chance to ask?

sorry for all the questions, I feel clueless!
