Hello, I'm on day 4 of potty training my son, of 2 and 3/4 years. I haven't read any books on it but just from titbits here and there, I got that the general consensus was to completely stop using nappies during daytime. It's playgroup tomorrow and he really isn't ready to go in pants. Do I...

a) Stay at home until he's got the hang of it more? (we've been housebound for 4 days now).

b) Go to playgroup with a nappy on and take it off as soon as we get back home.

c) Go to playgroup with pants, hope for the best, but probably spend most of the time changing him and apologising to everyone.

d)other!

Would love some help and your own experiences, thanks x

Hi i took dd2 to playschool in knickers and just had loads of trousers and knickers with me!

I thought I might brave it but I've never seen anyone else do it at our playgroup! Maybe I just wasn't aware.

When I trained DS and DD1, I was told not to put them back in any sort of nappy at it would confuse them. DS was trained in 2 days and DD1 more or less trained herself (she was obviously ready). DD2 is a different story...

I would go out with changes of clothes and offer the toilet to DS every so often.

I would also suggest using a potty and the toilet at home so that when you are out and about they are ok with using a toilet and don't have to have a potty. HTH

Wow! 2 days! I really hope mine is not going to be one of those ones that seem impossible to train. You're right about the toilet, I've been thinking about that. I've bought a travel potty and a travel toilet seat to take out with me.

Anyway, we didn't go to playgroup today as by the time I'd dealt with 3 accidents, it was too late anyway.

We've got playgroup again tomorrow, I just know I'm going to spend the whole time asking if he needs a poo or wee, to which he will answer no, and then I'll spend the rest of the time dealing with his accidents. Sounds a bit stressful to me (I like to go to playgroup for a BREAK).

But we do have to leave the house sometime...
