Holiday fine as a single parent

I took my DD out of school end of july for a holiday, just the two of us. I got the fine from the school which I was expecting, but it says £60 my payment , £60 her dad's payment. However, we've been separated a long time, he does have her and pick her up from school. Therefore, do both parents still have to pay? I will pay his as he didn't go on the holiday, but I was wondering if it was worth appealing?

If both parents are down on the school
Form and have PR then they'll find both parents.
