Volunteering with young kids

Hi, I am considering trying to find a volunteering opportunity for myself and my 6 year old to do together and I wondered if anyone else has volunteered with young kids and if they’d be able to share a bit about what they did and how the kids found the experience. Particularly interested in opportunities that involve people rather than animals. Thanks 🙏

Parkrun have lots of volunteer opportunities- Saturday and Sunday mornings.
I see lots of parents with children.

Your local area may have a litter picking group or park may have a 'friends' group.

Alternatively you could volunteer as a Leader at Rainbows/Brownies/Beavers whilst your DC attends. Volunteers children are usually given a place straight away even if there are waiting lists.

Another vote for junior parkrun - lots of roles for parent plus child, nice atmosphere, over and done in an hour. Volunteers earn credits towards milestone T-shirts which is a nice motivator for kids. My daughter likes being the tail Walker (complete with tail)
