Nose cleaning with a cotton bud

3-month old LO could not breathe well today. I used saline spray first, but it did not work, so I used a cotton bud. I really had to dig deep to get her bose clean, now I feel guilty as hell. :(

She just complained for a few seconds and was fine afterwards, but later I read a few posts saying this is not a good idea since it could hurt the lining of the nose or cause an infection.

How worried should I be? :(

Don’t worry, what is done is done. If it’s not bleeding you’re ok, just don’t do it again.

I have to do this to 5 month old DD as snot sucker doesn't seem to work. Like you, I use saline drops first to loosen it. She's been bunged up since she was born (dr says nothing is wrong) I'm just super gentle and don't put it in very far just gently rub around and she's not really bothered by it anymore. Think it's fine as long as you're gentle and don't put it up far x
