Coughing and vomiting

The last 3 times DS 5 has had a cough/cold he has been sick with it. No excessive coughing but all of a sudden will vomit.

Obviously the first time I treated it as a stomach bug but it's been the same the last couple of times he has had a cough/cold. It really doesn't follow the pattern of a stomach bug does, for example he was sick yesterday morning, absolutely fine all day yesterday and hungry. Just gave him light foods and was sick before bed, fine overnight and today had a light breakfast and lunch, fine all day until bedtime when he was sick again. He does have large tonsils so I'm guessing that could be a trigger, but he is literally otherwise fine, the coughs aren't chesty and no temperature. Does anyone else find this happens and can shed any light?!

It sounds like a sickness bug.
