Sleep regression help advice?

First off hope it's ok me posting on here, I am the dad but ft dad and carer for my DP.

I think my DS is starting to go through sleep regression. He is just coming up 4 months next week, been a great sleeper and until about two weeks ago, either slept through the night or woke once for a feed. However past two weeks his sleep has changed to a block of sleep between 4.5-6.5 hours then waking every 1-1.5 hours. Last night I made sure to get to him before my DP woke as she needed the rest and noticed that he didn't need to feed (already woke for his night feed hour before) just needed resettling. Same again an hour later. I have noticed as well in the Wakes after a feed when my DP was up he wasn't feeding just nursing back to sleep.

His first block of sleep is definitely shorter most nights than usual and it's been two weeks this has been going on. If it is sleep regression I have read that CC is good for helping. However I'm just a bit hesitant as most places I've seen it says from 6 months to use. We have a routine so set him down for sleep between 7-8 depending on his naps during day and he is always awake at 7 ready for the day. I want to help him build on his routine and try relieve as much pressure on my DP but at the same time don't want to jump the gun and make things worse or do anything that is detrimental to my DS.

Any advice or help would be hugely appreciated. Thank you in advance

My LO is 4 months next week too and honestly I’d say there is very little you can do. If he is falling asleep independently and is capable of sleeping through the night before then these wakings are just this sleep maturing and regression.

My DS is the same at the moment. He’s put down awake, no dummy, self soothes to sleep lovely and has slept through the night so has all the skills there, but last two weeks most nights he is restless from 2am waking every hour between sleep cycles. It’s the time of night where melatonin is wearing off so they just find it more difficult to drop back off.

I probably wouldn’t do CC,I won’t be with my DS he’s far too young and I know it would do mine more harm than good, the reason my DS is happy in his cot (he happily babbles when wakes from naps for ages) is because he knows I will always come if needed so I’m not doing anything to jeopardise that. They need reassurance and help and are still tiny at 4 months. Even with regression your LO is still a fantastic sleeper so just carry on soothing and helping. It will pass.
