False starts bedtime hell

LO is 5 months and we have had false starts every single night. I don’t know what to do. Nights go like this:

1.5 hours after last nap we do bath, PJs, feed. For day naps I put him in crib and he goes to sleep on his own within ten mins. However at bed he won’t - needs to be fed or rocked to sleep. Literally 15-30 mins after falling asleep he is up crying. I then sit in bed for about an hour trying to get him back to sleep via feeding or rocking. I get fed up and just put him in my bed and I cosleep with him, So basically I get no evenings. I’ve been doing this for 3 months and so fed up now. Where am I going wrong? I have tried:

increasing this last wake window
shortening this last wake window

Nothing works

I think the wake window is very short.

When you increased it, how long was it? I'd be looking to double it.

How does he sleep overnight and how much is he sleeping during the day?

What's his nap schedule through the day?
Can you give times?

I agree it's a short window between last nap and bedtime routine.

Whatever change you do needs to be in place for atleast a week for them to start getting used to it

I'd agree it seems a very short wake window – 2.5 or 3 hours awake before bed would be more typical, I think, at 5 months. Does he have very short wake windows the rest of the day?

At 5 months wake windows are 1.5-2.5h so perhaps try more towards 2-2.5h.
